In John 7:15, Jesus was teaching in the temple during the Festivals of Shelters and a peculiar question was asked among the crowd. “How does he know so much when he hasn’t been trained?”

This question obviously implied that for one to be able to speak or teach boldly in the temple, they must have undergone some sort of training. So these people where astounded at the wisdom and boldness Jesus Christ showed. But if Jesus had not been trained by neither a Pharisee nor a teacher of the law, how then was he able to know so much?

Let’s dive to chapter 14 of the Book of John and focus on verse 26,

But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you.”

Jesus Christ promised us a teacher who will teach us ‘all things.’ But before going further, let’s understand the ‘all things’ Jesus representative is going to teach us. All things could mean anything, everything, all that exists. Would the promised teacher’s teaching be based solely on the word of God? Because if that were the case Jesus Christ would have said ‘I am sending you a teacher, advocate who will teach you my word.’ But Jesus used an unusual phrase ‘all things.’

The teacher Jesus was referring to was no one else than God the Holy Spirit. If the Holy Spirit is here with us as Jesus representative and can teach us not certain things but All things, that makes the Holy Spirit who is our teacher ALL KNOWING. He is Omniscient. His wisdom and teaching is not limited to just God’s word, His teaching is not limited at all! And this is one of the characteristics that makes Him equal to God the Father and God the Son.

You can only know what you’ve been taught and what better teacher than an ALL KNOWING TEACHER. Need to know about finance, which relationship to keep or venture, be it marriage, business, friendship etc. The Holy Spirit is there as a guide. Confused about the career to take on, He is there. Thinking of what school courses to take or wondering about your purpose in life or in need of a business strategy? The Holy Spirit is all that we need because He is here to guide us into all truth. He is the one that searches the heart of the Father and in return guides us into the mind of God for our lives.  All we need to do is to ask and let the Holy Spirit guide us into all truth.

Most times we fail in some areas of our lives because we limit the person of the Holy Spirt. He isn’t just there to teach us the scripture but to also teach us everything (no matter how trivial we think it is) in accordance to the principles of God’s Kingdom which includes our lifestyle and purpose and to bring forth God’s intention to us. The person of the Holy Spirit is given to us to make us conform to the image of Christ.  His teaching becomes the light on our part as we journey through all phases of life so we indirectly bring God’s will on earth. The Holy Spirit is the greatesr teacher anyone can have because He is so concerned about every area of our lives and wants us to sustain our relationship with Him. He doesn’t want to be left out from our lives, He wants to be fully involved in our lives as long as we include Him in our daily activities.

How was Jesus able to speak boldly and with such wisdom as though He has been trained? It was due to the help of the Holy Spirit. Though the son of God, Jesus Christ came to earth in flesh and was subjected to everything we feel. Only with the help of the Holy Spirit could he fully do the will of the Father.

Matthew 3:16 And when Jesus was baptized, He went up at once out of the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he [John] saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on Him.

Jesus didn’t need to undergo any training, Jesus Christ was filled with the Holy Spirit. Firstly Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, He studied in the temple. He took out time to fellowship with the Holy Spirit so much that the Holy Spirit could find expression through Him which was seen by all.

In other words, the Holy Spirit can give us wisdom in certain or/and in all areas in life i.e marriage, career etc not because we have been trained by man or because of the qualifications or degrees we’ve gotten but because He is our All Knowing Teacher.

The Holy Spirit been your teacher qualifies you for any position but it depends on how willing we are to allow Him form us through and through.
